Welcome to the Beaujolais in France

ORGANISED ROAD BIKE TRAINING.

From Friday 29th September 06 to Tuesday 3rd October 06, come and discover the beautiful Beaujolais countryside.

A fantastic break in Beaujolais France.

A program for cyclists who live their passion and wish to discover, on the bike, a beautiful region absolutely ideal for biking, and as you know, renowned for its gastronomy.

A different run will be proposed each day, these will take you through all the multiple facets of the Beaujolais region, these will include many of the « little » mountain passes.

Day or evening visits and degustations will punctuate your stay. Lodgings at Villié Morgan.

Friday 29th September.

Afternoon: Meeting point and program start at « Hotel Le Villon » Villié Morgan, bike servicing, welcome and briefing.

How to get there:

-By road?

Take the A6 motorway exit n° 30 « Belleville » then follow the signs for Villié Morgan

(13 kms).

-By rail?

TGV station Mâcon/TER station in Mâcon, Belleville or Lyon.

We will welcome and collect you from these stations.

Vehicles can be left at the Hotel (parking closed and protected) until your return on Monday evening.

A short run on the bikes, to get the feel of the roads and the region, for those who arrive early afternoon. Villié, Régnie,?????????????????..approximately 35 kms.

Meal and overnight stay at Hotel le Villon.

The circuit is always quite hilly and the finish is held at one of the many beautiful castles. Tremendous assistance on the circuit (excellent bonk food and refreshments) and at the finish of course!

Return trip to the « Château de Longsard ».

Afternoons visit « everything to do with wine »: the Hameau du Vin/Musée de la Vigne (vineyard museum) and Duboeuf wine. Followed by wine tasting at Romanèche-Thorins.

Meal and night at Château de Longsard.

Monday 2nd October.

Distance: 110 kms Arnas ? Villié Morgan : the country of the « golden stones » (le pays des Pierres Dorées).

Positive climbing: over 1300 metres

Climbs: three passes.

The first part of the circuit will take us into the country of the Pierres Dorées. Magnificent yellow ochre villages of Tuscan style. Castles and homes full of character, fabulous views of the Saône valley and the high Beaujolais region. Small and quiet country roads in the heart of the vineyards. Oingt, Cogny, Frontenas or Jarnioux, all post card villages will punctuate your ride before attacking the climb of the « Col du Chêne » (720 metres) and the downhill passage towards Lamure and the « Col de la Casse Froide » (740 metres) after which we will descend to « Beaujeu » the capital of the historic Beaujolais and the start of the « official » Beaujolais Nouveau. Return to Villié-Morgan.

ORGANISED BIKE TRAINING.

Frontenas or Jarnioux, post card villages which will punctuate your ride before attacking the climb of the « Col du Chêne » (720 metres) and the downhill passage towards Lamure and the « Col de la Casse Froide » (740 metres) after which we will descend to « Beaujeu » the capital of the historic Beaujolais and the start of the « official » Beaujolais Nouveau. Return to Villié-Morgan.

Wine tasting with a vineyard partner at Villié Morgan or at Régnié Durette (5 kms from the hotel).

Evening meal at Restaurant l'Orée des Vignes and night at Villon in Villié Morgan.

Tuesday 3rd October

Morning ride around Villié-Morgan, approximately 40 kms, with your last challenge (if you wish) a 3 kms climb of a 10 % average gradient hill, the Mont Brouilly.

Light lunch at the hotel.

End of your stay.

The price includes:

Wine tasting with our selected partners wine growers.

Managed by a bilingual supervisor.

Vehicle assistance from 5 participants and more.

You may borrow bicycle material from us, if and when necessary (breakages) during your stay.

Visit to the Wine museum.

Registration in the cycling event « Rallye du Beaujolais"

The price does not include:

Your transport to and from the holiday venue Villié-Morgan.

Extra cost for single rooms (90 euros).

Drink, other than organised wine tasting, and any personal expenditure.

Road bike hire (50 euros).
